Credit Where Credit Is Due: Pittsburgh Penguin Fans Are Hockey Tough
I don’t think it even needs to be said at this point but I’ll say it anyway. I hate the Penguins, I hate their fans, I hate their families, I hate absolutely everything about them. But just like with Crosby, you can hate the guy but you better damn well respect his greatness. And assuming this report is true, I have to respect the hell out of this Penguins fan because that’s just about the most Hockey Tough thing I’ve ever read in my entire life.
Hell, Matt Murray is on the Penguins roster and wouldn’t even play in Game 1 vs Columbus last night after tweaking his groin during warmups. This dude is just a fan. Doesn’t even get paid by the team. He has a Phillips head screwdriver lodged into his dome piece and refuses medical attention until after the game is played. That’s dedication. Or alcohol. Or maybe a combination of both. Regardless, I’ve learned something today. Maybe we’re not so different, the Yinzers and I. They’re a bunch of assholes but they love their squad and I can relate to that.
I still hope their souls get ripped out of their bodies at some point over the next few weeks.
